Alright, I am wearily going to atempt an opinion on a few things, so bear with me, I'm stretching my fingers. TOPIC 1: REPLIES For some time, I have been monitoring the replies made in the passionate forums. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, as poets, We should want, and need, constructive critiscism as well as encouragement. That is one of the main reasons I take the time to post my poetry here. Don't get me wrong, I would be most discouraged if the only replies given were addressed to my short comings, but, on the flip side, I am most frustrated that I am not growing as a writer, because I cannot see the flaws in my own pieces. To put it simply, If all I wanted was glowing reviews, I could go to a best friend, boy friend or parent, who knows nothing about poetry. I come here with my work, because sometimes only other poets can supply the hints and tips I need to grow. Perhaps, instead of fawning over other poets, or slapping each other on the back, a little bit of serious objectivity is in order. What do you think? Oh.....and I have posted in C/A, for those of you who were wondering, but alas, only a total of 2 critiques were given total on 6 or 7 pieces. TOPIC 2: POLITICAL CORRECTNESS Alright. I am not a politician. I will never be one. And furthermore, I have no desire to ever take up that profession. The poeple in this site have had to deal with a few rude comments made, and a few wounded egos. That, I'm afraid, is not uncommon. When you have a forum, such as this, you simply cannot expect everything to come up roses. Nobody likes to find themselves in a conflict. It is quite understandable that everyone should be on their best behaivior when in public, and yes, this is a public place. (for those of you who have forgotten.) However, never saying anything but bland niceties has become such an issue, that it might as well be a national poetry crisis. Poets are very passion filled.....and that passion isn't always desireable. Thats just life, get over it. Now, let me make this clear. It doesn't mean that it's a free-for-all in any forum. Indeed, it's not. I believe that Bambi's Thumper said it best when he stated, and I quote, "If you don't have anything nice or objectionaly constructive to say, then take it to the alley." (ok, maybe it wasn't a direct quote) If you, as a poet, come across something that offends you, then address that person in a private matter, or, take it to the alley. The other forums are, and listen well, for POETRY. Shocked? Good. It might be a surprise to some of you to learn that. This site will not survive and grow if that simple fact isn't kept in mind. Oh.......and as for the moderators......they know what they're doing. They created this site...if you want to be correct...then follow their rules. TOPIC 3: MY FEELINGS ON CREATION Just kidding! Did I scare you? I believe my friends, that I am finished. Thank you for your time. ------------------ "Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me." -Charles Brugnot [This message has been edited by Saxoness (edited 08-12-99).] |

Well said Saxoness, you have succinctly stated the facts of this life, and at that I think I should never address these issues again. ------------------ Dum spiro, spero JP |

I agree with what you say. Perhaps we need to let the poets know how to access someone's e-mail address. If you click on the icon with the little face on it, you will find that poet's profile. If they have agreed to let their e-mail address be visible, it will be there. Or just click on that cute little envelope! Send them a message off the forums.
