“Al Qaeda’s New Front An investigation into the threat radical jihadists pose to Western Europe and its allies.” http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/front/ Just watched the program on PBS. Interesting. It appears one of the goals is re-conquest. “Jihadists” , (Holy Warriors ?); well now that PBS has used the term I suppose it’s ok. |

missed this but reading through the site. re-conquest is a, not the, factor amongst the ultra-militant jihadists. the foremost link between the various jihadists is best explained by Sageman. "As a result, the international jihadi movement reverted to what it was before Al Qaeda and bin Laden came to the forefront -- a collection of local people with local grievances who share the same ideology." the grievances, foreign and israeli policy, the ideology resatblishing a 'pure' Islamic state. |

“a” factor appears to be enough to justify killing people. And as one commented Europe is dealing with something new to their experience, people willing to kill themselves in order to kill masses of human beings. And from their perspective the jihadists feel justified. “Tooth for a tooth.” As another remarked, if two hundred thousand Moslems could be killed in Bosnia, then it is proper to kill two hundred thousand Christians, be they French, German etc., (it doesn’t matter what Europe or the United States did to stop it). “the ideology resatblishing a 'pure' Islamic state” Again “Islam” translates literally to “submission.” These people are serious. P.S. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,145393,00.html There was the killing in the Netherlands. It can happen again. |

"These people are serious." agreed, so how wise is it to provide them with more recruitment fodder? e.g the fiasco in iraq |

Raphael, If it isn’t Iraq, then it’s Afghanistan, Bosnia, Chechnya, the Philippines, the French prohibition on head scarves in schools, etc.; there’ll always be found a reason to mask an intent that would exist regardless. |

"there’ll always be found a reason to mask an intent that would exist regardless" true, the current administration's agendas are evidence of that |
