The Moosewood Restaurant

This is from our last summer's vacation on the east coast.I had always wanted to visit this restaurant.....I'd been using their cookbooks for years....and finally, I actually got to go there.

In Ithica, New York...a college town
is a restaurant of world renown
started out as a co-op in seventy three
it outgrew it's roots...the moosewood tree

a vegetarian eatery, one of the first
in cooking language, so very well versed
I'd used their cookbooks for twenty five years
filled many a tummy with culinary cheer

at the Moosewood, I've always wanted to dine
I'm so glad we finally found the time
I had Armenian veggie stew with bulghur wheat
a fine vegetarian, gourmet treat

a delicious but healthy evening repast
in a restaurant of pure first class
a dinner prepared with skill and grace
spiced with memories, I'll forever taste

Munk-Ster the master Chef,
such a culinary treat, to dine upon your words
at the lovely establishment of Chez Lyra

Please, my lady,
may I have another?

Thanks Jeff...but I can't claim to be the master chef, here....
the only thing I cooked up was the poem...
Only one thing was wrong with that restaurant......there were no acorns on the menu!

That's my gal...I order the Saveur, for nothing more than to look at different areas of the world and their cuisine and staples...and one of these days, I'm going to put those gorgeous magazines to good use...

Thanks Victoria....
I'm not a vegetarian, but David is, and since we have been together, I've learned to eat more vegetables...but I have always loved the Moosewood cookbooks....I think I have every single one they ever published, and I have been using their recipes for many years...so although I'm not a vegetarian, I don't eat that much meat and I love pasta and some of the other vegetarian recipes.

(smiles) Awwwwwwwww, I love this, sweet friend, I must admit I too am not a vegetarian, but I love eating vegetables so very much and I actually eat a lot of rice and pasta and couscous, which I always blend with herbs and vegetables! (kiss on cheek) That sounds like such a wonderful place to eat, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Madame - I used to live in Rochester, NY and have been to Ithaca many times. The area is really beautiful, and with a lot of good restrants, hehehe, short spelling of it...

Thanks Bill,  Ithaca is a college town, which is probably why there are so many nice restaurants.....I guess college kids like to eat.
Have you ever been to the Moosewood?
