(This is not my usual mood, prepare to have a Kleenex with you when you read this one, I was inspired to write this song after a teacher told me about the abuse he suffered as a child and how upset I am how so many are affected like this on a daily basis! ) Who Gave You The Right? By: Noah Eaton 4/6/02 A young boy, innocent and headstrong Prays for mercy all day long Hiding from his father His heart is shattered By the abuse afflicted upon him He cries everyday He mutters where he hides A soliloquy to get through this alive Conducting A threnody Wishing for him to understand and love him He doesn't know if he can forgive him Who gave you the right To commit this horrendous crime Why can people be so cruel? I'm tired of hearing these excuses That you use To try and explain yourself... All he wants is to have a dad To have a conversation with he has never had He is his own sentinel His heart doesn't fit at home Yet his heart is high-strung He's forced to obey his commands He slaps him on the back with a belt He runs away pleading for help To comfort him To console him From the tears he's crying I can never approve of this Who gave you the right To commit this horrendous crime Why can people be so cruel? Read my lips Someday you will regret this All you did to his innocent defenseless body I would rather eat my soup with a knife Then hear you say everything's alright And don't think I would hesitate to say... "Tell me now, why and how Can you do something like this to someone Who is close to you and so young of age? How can you ever explain All these cold words you say And pain you afflict to him Only because he belongs to you And I know deep down Someday you look back on this And understand and regret That this pain will always be with him That time can never completely heal!" And I feel Deep inside "Who gave you the right to do this?" I don't understand At all What gave you the right to do this Shame on you... Noah darling boy this such a powerful and forceful piece from you. THANK YOU for writing it this is a message that should be heard. Each and every child is a gift from HIM, and no one has the right to defile one of HIS gifts. Outstanding writing, you brought tears to my eyes but I forgive you since this is a subject that needs to be out in the open. We must put a stop to child abuse NOW. As always Mushy To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace Luke 2:79 |

This is a serious issue, and I am glad you've wrote this awareness poem. No one has the right to abuse anyone, and I wish there was a way to stop it from happening. Thank u for sharing Noah..I just know that someday you are going to be a GREAT father, and a wondeful, supportive husband. |

Oh damn, Noah..... this one Super Fine piece of poetry written for all the right reasons. Senseless selfishness is never excusable. Trot out the reasoning, the victims are always scarred for life. Anger is a poison that spreads like virus. jeff |
