                   ~  Birthmark  ~

All of a sailing night dusted cobwebs
         with an eerie-gray starry confetti
A shoebox-size baby was born that eve
         in glistening nocturne sheen

All thru the night of lambs
it bleated to be set free
      Dreaming of being gingerly shawl-wrapped
while its skin turned pallid to wooly pink

All thru the night it bit at the chains
a mothers resolve crumbling as music curved
cloaking the room in lifeglow brocades

      Born soft-eyed like a doe
      divulging secrets with no-one
                         but
      passing its dimpled birthmark legacy
      to everyone who believed
                   ~       ~       ~

ThisDiamond shines with a sweet accolade that cannot be repaid by
a mere thank you.   My work pales in the light of your work, TD! Thankx so!

Martie:  that was sweet of you!  Much obliged for the atta-boy!
Not all birthmarks are visible ~wink~
some are mmmmmm...experienced

Nancy:  like a knock on the door from a beloved neighbor with a warm
cup of coffee, i welcome your words.  You were born 'kindhearted'.  sigh
Where is the belief in innocence anymore, and does it still
leave a 'birthmark' on us?

Thankx y'all!

Jeff darling boy this is awesome, truly exceptional writing. So amazing that you convey such grace and style with a seemingly simple word or two. You have such an outstanding gift to write.

You do know I really LOVE this don’t you? I thought you would pick up the subtle and delicate nuances of my rapture. This is sooooooooo typically you, the loving and always inspiring gift that is Jeff personified

Fabulous writing darling heart utterly utterly fabulous

There is something soft and sweet about this piece, Jeff.....I think it must be that baby.

Wow, I'm impressed!  I was intrigued to read because I read the title 'birthmark' and I happen to have an "L" shaped one on my left temple....but anyways, I read and I loved this!  You have a gift for using words in a subtle way and creating beautiful poetry.  I'll be sure to stop around and read more of your stuff.
