Have you ever sat silently still
in the stillest of the night,
and stared out the window at the glory
of an Arctic northern light?
In the shadows of the northern March moon
the shape of the barn and corral follow, in swoon.
If you watch for a while patiently you can see
the shadows in movement in the snow below.
It's SPRING! It says so on my calendar.
And the air shouts out in anticipated warmth
from a low angled sun in the early morn,
and shadows disappear leaving only
the fences and the whispering birch trees,
as the sun climbs a bit higher each day.
And I know warmer days are on the way.
I sit at my window and wait
for the cry of the loon on the lake,
for the egrets and Canadian geese to fly overhead.
And when Mr and Mrs Robin set up residency
(the harbingers of Spring) they are my guarantee
that winter is finally passed, for now.
And when Spring finally arrives
I find myself fondly remembering the snow,
and at the same time I search the skies
for the midnitesun of summer's glow.
And summer brings so many thrills,
I hardly notice when the leaves begin to fall
it is almost Fall. And when snow falls,
again in winter skies of longest nights,
I look out again for the shadows dancing
underneath the aurora,
my Rainbow of Dancing Lights.

(smiles) Awwwwwwwww, I have always wanted to see the northern lights so much, I need to go up to Alaska sometime and see them! (kiss on cheek) They must be soooooo pretty, may this rainbow forever scatter colors of rapture to your heart and have spring sing in you timelessly! We all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I have never been to Alaska, my friend, so have never stood there in the wonder and the beauty; till now, through your eyes and words, and the awe in your voice.  I have now seen something never see by these eyes, and feel a wonder never felt before...
thank you, for giving me sight.

What a beautiful picture you portray through your words...

I would love to see Alaska...except for the snow

Sunshine, LOL. Keep dancing lady, it's almost here.
Noah, thank you dear friend. Did you know, that sometimes when I read your poems, I see those dancing lights on these blue pages? You must have them in your heart.

jwesley, what a wonderfully nice thing to say! I wish I could send it to you in cyberspace. There are many good sites with aurora photos, but they just don't capture the dance.

Balladeer, then you would love to visit in the summertime, with the sun shining all night long in June, when hundreds join in running the Midnight Funrun. Yes, everyone running at nightime. It's cool.

LOL, it is really awesome, and I sometimes can't believe that I've decided to leave this all behind me this year, and move to the foot of the Rockies. Thanks for your comment.

I look out again for the shadows dancing
underneath the aurora,
my Rainbow of Dancing Lights.
