In Your Poetic Mind

0 posted 2002-02-17 10:19 AM

And I see you laying there
A memory of a forgotten
Time, a place of heart
When life had simple
Meaning
The wind breezes through
The trees, an endless calling
On a silent night;
Even the stars somehow
Have lost their shine
Among heavy clouds
That wisp by so softly

On the distant horizon
A storm approaching
Reminding me how
Life can be, how it is
The pavement seems parched,
Waiting for rebirth,
That smell of heat
Rising
In summer rain

The wood carving is left;
By some forgotten roadside
Weathered and older,
The flowers dangled and dying
Brushed off each month
For memories
Of a happier time

The words faded,
Black upon the stone
Of your life now,
The heading which
Once read beloved
Friend, beloved…is sketched
Still along my heart,
The trace of my heart,
The trace of my life,
My whys for remembrance,
But the whys don’t
Give the answer I seek

I feel lost in my dreams
Lost with out you
Wanting
So much in my selfish need
I go there, when I need to feel,
When I need to cry,
When I need to remember,
The pure embers of your grace
Scattered now amidst
The being you once knew

I should hate the rain for taking you
For leaving me here
To walk my days;
To live my nights in solitude
With out the touch
Of your embrace

But, I have forgiven nature
I have looked beyond
The face of death
Knowing somewhere
In the memory
Of our time

Peace waits

Step through the
barrier of my mind,
enter my soul,
feel my desire,
let my eyes guide you
into the shadows
of my heart

You describe grief in such a way that anyone can understand your pain, Lauren.  Very well written, my friend. *hugs*

What a wonderful piece! So moving, plus the desciptions made me feel like I was sitting outside on the brink of a rainstorm in August.  Great job!

This is unbelievably sad, Lauren...

The pain reaches out and touches me from between the words....

The words faded,
Black upon the stone
Of your life now,
The heading which
Once read beloved
Friend, beloved…is sketched
Still along my heart,
The trace of my heart,
The trace of my life,

It is soul wrenching and so well written, but I hope that it isn't personal.

Lauren, you always bear your heart and soul and this is no exception.  There's just something so real about your poetry, and I feel I still have a ways to go but I'm so much better for having read your words. Thank you
