Caught in Winter

Thought that breasts the moon with sighs
upon a dark but distant slope
shivers to a caught look
when in close trees
a gaze is fixed
between stark limbs and finite twigs
that replicate
nakedly.
Ice melts
and water drops, feeling for the want
of welds, sliver silver through the spots
weak with rust,
while back and forth the gutters snicker,
each a telling, narrow sluice
mistaking, as will younger sisters,
breathlessness
for something else.

Hi Bob..you always write in layers...which makes your poetry interesting as well as intriguing.  Really liked this look at winter.
