Advice

She was covered with love
and when I hugged her
I could feel a piece of Daniel,
Daniel who had painted her lips red
and touched her cheeks with rose…
then touched her hair with flowers of
and some dark and sensual musk
that seemed familiar.

She spilled her heart
onto my teal carpet,
her hands danced around her
in a ballet that illuminated
the stage,
and then she waited for my applause,
for all those long stem roses
to be thrown at her feet
and the bow of course would be
with her arm around her heart.

Love was what she had,
and a fever of warm rain unsure
let her vulnerable open,
for she was waiting for me to say
it was okay,
okay to give everything she ever had,
her children’s feelings,
her microwave,
the quilt of life that she had thrown
across the living room couch,
to dance.

And love cannot be controlled,
not by opinion,
not by the days you took
building up your defenses,
not by broken vows
nor all the tears that rock
the salty ground,

and so I said….
go for it girl,
give it everything and enjoy
each crazy, heated embrace….
But, watch out for the stars, baby,
they follow a path that is always moving

and this minute is all you have
_________

It is Love

How many times had I seen her face
all drawn with pride,
her sigh like a prairie wind.

She tore out pieces of me then,
pulled all the briers from around the path,
I could see them roll away
across the sand where time blew.

Now she is frizzed and frayed with emotion,
all blossomed and open,
for she has just walked a long corridor
that took her to a newborn grandson
all dark curl and pinked with wail,
and in her opening arms
that pulled me to her in this love
that we call friends,
I see my own inevitable time approach.

Oh, the flowers she would spread on the bed,
all velvet and sweet to say something.
I can see her think of the grand design
that brings innocence into the world
to answer questions.

Yes, she understands this.

It is the continuance of something
that she thought she lost
when she followed her heart out the door.

It is love.

_______
both reposted and about a special friend...
because love just is...and can turn a life into a meadow.

good grief I love the way you write life...
I could go blind reading you and still see it all thru your eyes!!

I can't improve on JM's response. *S*

These left me breathless, Martie... our choices come with a cost... sometimes that cost isn't as high as we initially thought. *S*

I don't quite know where to start. I love these lines.
"She spilled her heart
onto my teal carpet,
her hands danced around her
in a ballet that illuminated
the stage"

But then I loved them all , so may as well copy and paste the entire poem. Lovely work, spellbinding, truly wonderful. floria
