She wrote the past diligently, as if in transcription’s perfection, she could retrieve redemption. Furiously she typed, like it could change something, anything in her life. She typed out hatred, anger and buckets of tears, slurred heartaches in keystrokes that spelled despair. And on she went catching up, trying to finish before each new tomorrow. Why words? she stopped and questioned her own intents. What good are words strung out across the page? But she kept on, she had nothing else to do, that is, until the day she met a stranger and he asked, what will you write of your today? Today…she cautiously reached out a finger pressed a key and found she was writing in present tense. Withdrawing suddenly she feared her ability to be coherent when not looking back. But as he was writing his today too, and needed her answer for his next chapter he typed that he would wait for her reply. She quaked in fear that night and refused to write, she sat glaring at the keyboard’s familiar invitation. Who was he, that he should ask about her today? How am I supposed to answer that? He could have easily asked about yesterday, of that pain I am well versed. She finally typed one word- why? Why are you here? His answer was simple, you wrote me here, to help you put together your yesterday, our today and what we shall find in tomorrow. Again her fingers paused on the keys, then empowered by his presence they fairly flew across the board. She wrote him perfectly. Patient and kind, loving and strong, he was manly hard when he was supposed to be and equally soft enough to know her deepest desire and what made her smile. He filled her with happiness she couldn’t have written him any better. But she stopped, just short of bliss caught in a pocket of leftovers, yesterday’s trappings, she wrote and unwrote but was unable to unload the words from round herself in time for his next line. In her moment of hesitation, she lost him, and another writer answered, picked him up quick and wrote him, fit him right into her poetry. Unable to go back, unable to go forward she sits dazed, with one word written at the top of an otherwise blank page Tomorrow… |

writing our own...todays and yesterdays..in hopes of creating perhaps our own slice of reality in a way we can understand. Not your thoughts perhaps, but mine when I read this... nicely done.. |

Yesterday's words were purges of anger, frustration seeking an outlet... Today's words wrote of an awakening... but the prince decided to charm someone else. Tomorrow's page may be momentarily empty... but I hope it's soon flooded with hope and happiness that are real and lasting, not ethereal... and that those words spill forth forever. *S* Beautiful work... you even made a blonde think. *G* |
