Indian Summer - A Sonnet for Marsha

"She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her."
NIV Proverbs 3:15

After cool winds blew across green meadows
With cold frost biting pretty leaves of green
Setting sun dropped deeper into shadows
All of nature seemed in slumber, serene.

As rainbows awakened over tall trees
In glorious autumn art painted free
God was making a masterpiece, all leaves
Beautiful setting sunsets flashed for me.

Then a hot breeze blew in across my knees
And my young child heard a call; come to me
I saw her swinging warmly in a breeze
My soul was called to her, I could not free.

All my youth returned in fervor; like steel
As I flew into her skies of youthful glee
As she cast me into fire, I could feel
All my strength regained in sterling mystery.

And all shadows in my heart turned to gold
More precious than all flaming gods of old.

I was reborn in Indian Summer.

Newell darling boy and holder of the stars light. This is seriously excellent writing, the flow of this is perfect, the internal pace and the construction cannot be bettered. This would be good writing with just that alone, what raises it to great writing is the way it reaches within to stir the soul of the reader. As I’ve said and so many times I’ve lost count you are a great writer. Still reiteration is always a good thing except when it is used as reasoned argument, so in this case it is allowable.

This is truly etched in my heart and into my library with you. And don’t think just because you write such beauty I shall forget that you promised me you’d stop flying so far ahead of me I won’t.

Sweep through the air and ride the breeze
Feel the air dancing through the trees
Then feel my hand reaching out to you
Calling you to come and follow through
Hear the whisper that caresses your face
Touching you with such tender grace
Don’t turn away or turn back now
We’ll find a way sometime somehow

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy
