A spoof on Hamlet,HA HA - hope you enjoy it. To Rhyme Or Not To Rhyme To rhyme, or not to rhyme: that is the question: Whether 'tis more profound to write so free Or stay within the confines of the rhyme. And why do men oppose the rhyme and preach The writing of words spoken freely without restriction? To stop: to write free: to no more match with words that whisper sweet music in the ear with magical chimes of melody, so sweet, that my heart sings. You say your words flow free'er, flowing on like water, In a spring or waterfall that gently moves along the rocks and boulders in the sun: and yet, dare I to dream? That my words which come in rhyme and to me speak of melodies enchanting as the evening breeze will also flow, As water beads along a petal of a rose. Is there a right: Is there a wrong: I say not! For we speak the words of our souls deep desires and miseries, and thusly do it in our own way. What say you? That is the question. Okay, floria, what say I? Well here goes, I'm sure gonna try. To rhyme or flow free, is that the question? Now let me just think, how it flows down my sink, oops I mean drain. For if I want my words to flow smoothly I cannot force any rhyme any time "just let 'em go," (didn't mean that to rhyme, it just slipped in) when I wrote the quote Well, thinking deeply digging way, way down into the ground (darn it, just cant keep that rhyme down or under control Seems it's my soul just gushing with little bursts of stuff just enough to rhyme sometimes. So flo I'll go on believing like you too that whatever comes from the soul is okay today. Guess my touch didn't say much So, here's a little rhythm, too I like a beat in words to you That's it I quit. ((floria)) -newell Sharing God's Love through perfectlovepoetry.com |

Well..I will tell you this Floria...this is a wonderful write..and as many on here and other places have discussed..some today are taught that form is not as important nor rhyme..as they say it seems to be forced..but when done correctly it flows...and is so pleasant to read and hear aloud..yet I also have come to love the free verse..neither can be forced out of me..they just happen ..I loved this.. Thanks noah for you kind reply and I am glad to see you laughing as this was truly fun to write. floria Newell. ahh, yes, either way is good. They are both very nice forms when done correctly.. and this was a sweet response from you. I can always count on .....floria Maureen, thank you so much, It was fun to do. I have been told so many times by good poets to ditch the rhyme, and sure they are not all great or even good sometimes, but I cannot help it. I love the rhyme, and of course I love free verse too, when I feel like it. I am so happy that you liked this. you made my day. floria Floria |

Bravo! *S* This is great, strbbux. *S* I like both free verse and rhyme... and simply shake my head in wonder at those who condemn one or the other... poetry is more than format. *S* |

WOW..FLORIA..i love this..just wonderful..hugs..i like to write in different forms as i would get bored writing either rhyme or free verse all the time..so i do whatever i feel like doing at the moment..i find when i was writing in strict form as i use to all the time..i was restricting my creativity. Nicely done hon ...hugss ~Victoria~ "Mistakes are the portals of discovery." |

Ha! I loved the way you wrote this. You have Shakespeare down pat! Funny, and so very true. Free verse is good stuff, but rhyme can sing to me. And I like Music! Nan |
