I think of my sister this time of year
Gail was born the first day of spring
she died when she was twelve years old
came into the world on a robin’s wing

She had Alice in wonderland hair
witty and pretty and sweet
I remember changing her diaper
I remember kissing her little feet

I was only twelve when she was born
the same age she was when she died
my daughter was born a year before
a comfort to me as I cried

Life is but a merry-go-round
a carousal of life and death
not knowing when heaven bound
I loved her till her last breath

She died on a hot summer day
it was the last day of July
but God works in mysterious ways
as the wings of time go by

It was always a very sad day
until I met my girlfriend Sharon
her birthday is the thirty first of July
now a special day for me in the sun

Oh Victoria dear, so sad this is. It is most difficult to lose a loved one. And she was so young, I am sure you think of her often. This poem is a wonderful tribute to her, with her beautiful hair. floria

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Victoria, this is sooooooo sad, my heart goes out to you and your loss but I know deep down with all my heart that your sister will always guide you with her love and she will always be in your heart and love you so much just as she will always be like Alice and seek true joy and hold all her dreams true! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much, this is sad but gorgeous! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Victoria, thank you for sharing!

oh Geez, Vic.....this is the truest slice of life: our family.  This is the type of poetry
that touches me deeply:  when good poets like youse, write about their loves
and loses of family.  I am sorry you have had to endure this agony for these years.
Never forget, tho,
never stop loving
even when kisses
can only be mere whispers.

Just a lovely poem, Vic! Jeff

Victoria,

I found this very touching, as I lost a younger brother many years ago.  Very well written my friend. *hugs* to you and prayers.

Victoria, I do like how you find good again in the day of loss...how dates strike us, now and then...we keep them so tight...

Victoria - Such a very sad and moving poem.  The 31st of July is actually when my birthday is as well.  I am truly sorry it is such a sad reminder of your sister.  Being someone who has two brothers and a sister, I know how tight the bond can be between siblings.

Hi Vic. What a sad story. I'm glad that the memory of the day is not so haunting anymore.
