You gave the gift of life
Which was such a heartfelt deed
To your grandson named Nicholas
It was your kidney he would need

You made the ultimate sacrifice
For this cherubic little boy
How very obvious it was
That he was your pride and joy

He now has an abundance of energy
As you watch him having fun
His smile is so very radiant
That he almost outshines the sun

We salute you and your courage
Such a love we all embrace
But I'm sure that it was worth it
Just to see that smile on his face

Such a heartwarming story
That has made the front page
You and your grandson have been honoured
And he will now reach a greater age

* * *

This was a story in our daily paper
this week and it really brightened
up my day and inspired me to write
this poem.This picture of Nicholas
and his grandmother, Lorraine was
courtesy of the Melbourne Herald Sun
and I felt that the picture helps
to compliment my words.

This is beautiful...for there is no greater
gift that could be given than life to
another human being...to a child...so that
they may run wild and free as only a child
can...

Thank You Sue for sharing this with us all.

Sue:  What inspiration this story gave you and you've done a fine job of writing about it!  I hope you sent a copy to Lorraine. I'm sure she'd love it.

Thank you all for your wonderful replies.  After reading a story such as this it gives us faith that there are still some good things going on in our world.

Betty Lou - Yes, I did send a copy to the newspaper to forward on to Lorraine so I hope she gets it.

Take care........Sue

Yeah you did it - the picture and your poem are wonderful Sue.  Late commenting, was babysitting but I am so pleased to read this, and glad you figured out how to do it!  Hugs, Sharon
