Swollen faces battered and bruised, damaged souls left abused. Wide eyed children asking why. Why did daddy make me cry? Tears endlessly rolling down their cheeks, pain that can't be forgotten with the passing of weeks. It hurts so bad can't you see? Can't you see what you're doing to me? Their little faces, wretched in pain. Please God, let them smile again. Help the battered the meek and mild, let them know love, this innocent child. And to those who would commit such a crime, put them in jail to do their time. Then throw away the KEY! (Michaels poem reminded me of the day I saw this and wrote it. Thank you Michael for making us remember that sometimes these things are sadly reality. I'm rambling...your poem got me thinking...thanks...) On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free. ~Me~ (I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance~Garth) [This message has been edited by Gentle Spirit (03-12-2002 08:49 PM).] |

Well said Donna. It is so sad that there is such a thing as child abuse for us to write about...this was very well penned. ~Hugs, Nancy~ ~Somewhere in my heart I'm always |

"And to those who would commit such a crime, put them in jail to do their time. And throw away the KEY!" Amen to that! And in my opinion that's even too kind of a punishment for those vultures. Thank you for writing from your heart and for sharing this important piece. This issue needs to addressed more often! Take care, Melissa~ "Poetry is not an opinion expressed... |

"Help the battered the meek and mild, let them know love, this innocent child. And to those who would commit such a crime, put them in jail to do their time. Then throw away the KEY!" (tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Donna, I couldn't agree with you ore, it breaks my heart to hear such cruel crimes like these in our world and how children are treated this way, I despise it and I wish for all this abusers to be punished once and for all! (sad sigh) My heart joins you in your prayers for all the children, sweet friend, we all love you so much, God Bless You! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Donna, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

There is no excuse for crushing God's preciousness. It is the resilience of children that heals and ends the chain. ThisDiamond |

Hello Donna Your words were so very touching and such a sad reality in our society. I posted a poem the other day about similar abuse and it is just awful, especially when people in so called areas of society are supposed to be caring for these children. Their cries often go unheard or are covered up. Take care.......Sue Suetang |

Donna, Hey critical subject here. When will we really put children first? They are our most important treasure! Can't stay away from poems about children. Thanks for the reminder. Everybody thinks of changing humanity and nobody thinks of changing himself. Leo Tolstoy |

Donna~ I have worked with these children a while ago now, but each touches your heart and leaves the mental impression on your mind with everyday that passes...I still see some of those children in dreams...a very sad write but so worth reading and understanding...thanks for this, and for your heart.... Hi there. I read your poem because I was an abused child as well. I've written a few poems about it and posted them in one of the forums. This one, this poem actually made me mad, but not for anything that you did or said.....I just finished a court battle against one set of foster parents that molested me for years and THEY RECEIVE NO JAIL TIME for their crime. Unfortunately, he died before the trial ended and she claims to have alzheimers disease so they can't convict her......so, who gets the life sentence? Me, and that just pisses me off. Other than my own angry emotions, the poem itself was well written. |
