Deep in the heart

0 posted 2002-03-08 09:30 AM

The homecoming
~*~~*~

His strong, bloodied fingers
~~~ fingers searching with hope.
His fingers removing debris
from 9-11 aftermath.
His body aching from the
bending and lifting,
this volunteer ... helping and hoping.
Sifting through the carnage,
piece by careful piece,
searching, respectfully, with an aching heart.
After a time he returns home to his loved ones
and redeploys his fingers to a more pleasant duty;
Writing poetry of love and devotion,
exquisite in its simplicity and truth
to the woman he loves.
Hesitantly handing it to her,
he folds her in his arms,
crying for the remembering,
crying in his thankfulness to have her.
Taking her hand, entwining those raw fingers
in hers, drawing her to him,
holding on as though he might lose her.
And, while holding her tightly,
he speaks, reverence in his voice,
of his undying love for her.
Speaking new life into love.
Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.
Can one take a moment in tragedy, and find good?
Apparently...after a fashion...one can...in hope, and love, and life...we may not always understand the why of the tragedy, but we can always find a reason to hope for better, if we can find that better within ourselves...
thank you for this...
Oh my this touched me, so so very well written I am left speechless with this Interloper. thanks for posting it. It brings back that day and all the horror yet all the love that people showed for each other. floria
(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh my gosh, this is soooooooo beautiful, it saddens me so much to see so many hurt by the tragedy but also I am delighted to feel love and hope continue to shine and to see the heart of eternal love continue to beat through those afflicted by the disaster! (EXTRA BIG HUGS) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much, this is fabulous! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Love,
Noah Eaton
Tragedies, especially for those in direct contact, certainly account for a lot of blessings-giving for all that we have and the fragility of it . This poem is a superb vehicle to plant those visions in our minds...
