He said they were all gone, There were no more Prince Charmings
He introduced himself as the magnificent, great, Prince Alarming

"Prince who?"  I replied.  I couldn't have heard him right
Did he say Prince Alarming?  Lord he made a sorry sight

"Prince Alarming"  He said once more "Here to fulfill your needs."
He gave a courtly bow and promptly tripped and fell to his knees.

I sighed exasperated.  Why did this have to happen to me?
Why not the girl next door or the one down the street?  "Prince Alarming Go away.  Let me be."

Of course he didn't leave.  With me he was determined to stay
So I did what I had to, I simply ran away

Of course the baffoon found me and stayed by my side
There was nowhere to run, there was nowhere to hide

"My love, here me out."  Prince Alarming said one day
He took my hands in his "Here what I have to say."

Rolling my eyes I sat and listened to his words
Expecting to hear something crazy, something inane, absurd

"I may not be perfect, I may say the wrong things
But I can love you completely, please except this engagement ring

I know you had your heart set on having your own Prince Charming
I know I'm second rate, not the least bit disarming

I can't give you diamonds and pearls, not one expensive car
But I can give you me, I can accept you for who you are

I know I'm unworthy but accept my love anyway
I would love you forever if you would only stay."

I brushed away my tears and looked into his eyes
They shone with a love so deep it took me by surprise

So I did something crazy, I did something absurd
I pressed my lips to his, they say actions speak louder than words

Who needs prince charming anyway?
If it's left up to me I'd take Prince Alarming anyday.

First off, I like your "real" name...secondly...to listen with your heart to a man who would "take you as you are" is Aces in my book...

glad you went for the gusto!

This is sweetly done.
enjoyed.

For all who watch.Dare you say hello? Come in and ask the questions that are on your mind, but spare me your judgement until you truly sipped of me.

Hi, I had to go back to find your poem, and it was worth the trip! How cute. Reminds me of an old one I did, called Rusted Knight
Same theme, but you did it better!
