Sometimes in the midst of all this darkness I'll see the blackened starry landscape and think of you and youth and protected innocence. But when I see this sole, lonesome self I hear the close whispers ever near assuring, guiding my life and path always and think and know that all the gain and all the loss, all of this is planned and it is well with me. Sometimes when a land in which I live passes beneath my feet and by my side, I think of the true joy of an ending and its beauty. It is life, the chance for light to come anew. .end is mysterY Strange beginnings can be sad. .life is born to enD 2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2 |

Hey Kevin, how are things in Hamilton these days? Hope your college studies are going well. Were you a little bit sad when you wrote this piece? It has a sad tone to it, or maybe it's just the way I read it. |

After re-reading this one, I came to a different conclusion, that perhaps its inspiration came from the cycle of seasonal changes...from a tendency to succumb to seasonal affective disorder...aka as 'SAD' symptoms. Either way, I enjoyed the thoughts and how they were presented. (and thanks for the email, Kevin) |

I really enjoy Kacy's reading of this---it made me go back and take a second look at it myself. This would work wonderfully in the form of a sonnet, if you were able to seperate all the "whens" and "thens" into a first and second part. As it stands, it ends up being a little inconclusive for my tastes---as one problem and conclusion follow the other. On the other hand, that satisfies the "cyclic" quality very nicely. Nice reading you again, Kevin. Hope all's well. Brian |

Hey everybody. Glad you liked the poem. About the form, I kinda wrote it in a theme similar to the hymn "It Is Well With my Soul." I also put a good emphasis on a stoic interpretation of endings and beginnings, that they are all part of the natural way of things. Again, glad you liked it. 2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2 |
