When we began our listening, wondering
long ago and whispering, sighing,
thinking that there just might be
someone else to keep us company
never did it cross our minds
to look around beside us still.
We dreampt of grays and stars and ships
and cities host to boundless life,
freedom from mundane humanity,
and in another universe we'd see
what lay beyond our simple globe
and forever occupy the stars.

But time progressed and with it so did we,
as poetry we found and forged our way to
freedom from mundane humanity;
found in the souls of man and womankind was
someone else to keep us company,
to bring life to stars and worlds and ships.
Our listening continues still,
with sounds of music and of joy
not from our own longing fantasy,
but from the vastness of the beautious sea
of worlds within worlds of people's minds
that build up our enchanted globe.

I enjoyed this very much.

Very well penned, Fractal. You've managed to depict, quite aptly, the fount where dreamers, artists, lovers and writers drink.
