Explanation: The poem is inspired by a recent article on the work of Ellsworth Kelly. He became known for striking, minimal paintings which used bold, simple shapes and the colors red, green and blue. He was looking for form as its own end, a painting that would exist solely in the eye of the viewer, divorced from content or concept. Something so of itself that no meaning could be attached to it. All context would fall away and leave only color and shape. I attempted that result with the poem. |
