G'chan=family term, meaning grandfather in Japanese
Sayonara, G'chan.

I miss your gentle spirit
and will always think of you
when I see the cherry blossom trees in bloom
or hear the sound of Taiko drumrolls
sounding the thunder of the Buddhas in the skies.
You were my only daughter's G'chan.
You didn't get to hear her practicing her
newly acquired Japanese language skills
which she has been studying so as to call
and say hello (Kon-ichi-wa) and how are you.
We want you to know your granddaughter Sara
will call your beloved B'chan and speak
a Japanese phrase of love and compassion
and a gentle goodbye for her love and soulmate.

I just received news that G'chan is gone.
May his spirit live forever with the thunder
of the skies, and may his soul's home be scented with the loveliest carnations,
like the ones he grew for so many years.

Missing G'chan.

I am devastated by this news, and may not be able to post or read  anything else today.

Kacy,
I can only say it hurts to see your heart broken. And so in my sadness I wish you peace, courage and hope. I'd wish you love but I'm offering you mine instead...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Honey, you take your time, and know that this tribute to a friend in your life will live with your daughter for the rest of hers...

Thank you both, for your time and warm hugs of understanding.

after some meditation:
I have often found writing poetry to be the strongest of all healers, so in honor of Shin Shiba-san, I wrote a senryu, and posted it in  Open.

Thankyou for sharing your grief through the use of poetry.  Though I have not yet lost family members that were close to me I do have an understanding of the pain you must feel right now.

Good to see you again, fractal friend.
Thanks for taking a moment to read and reply.
G'chan was a quiet gentle soul, in tune with nature every day of his life. I miss his presence on earth.
