I know that you’re afraid The future is dark, cold Uncertain in the worse sense I know I’m the most unlikely But please, take my hand I’ll guide you through the wilderness The best way I know how I found you broken, alone I was the same way We were both stumbling along Walking on broken bones Cut flesh, bruised souls Along a rocky path And when one fell, we did not As others do, go on ourselves No, we stooped down Placing the other’s weight Upon our own tried and tired bodies And, somehow, someway We both progressed Yes, we have progressed since then The road is not much easier We haven’t completely healed But we have begun Yes, we have begun And now we come to a darkness in the road What will we find Beyond where we stand now Paused, looking about Uncertain of what to do next I say, my dearest My love, my one true person In this world of deceit and falsehood That you need not run from me Blinded, into the darkness alone I know you’re afraid But take my hand Please take my hand For whatever may come We can face together And perhaps, someday The path will be easy We will see to the horizon We will be healed and whole We will walk into the light Hand in hand Oh, make me Thine forever And should I fainting be Lord, let me never ever Outlive my love for Thee [This message has been edited by LoveBug (06-26-2003 07:15 PM).] |

Haha, your critique message made me grin. Somehow like you tailored it especially to me. Hmmmm? I like a lot of this, Erica... the one thing I like the most about your poetry is the actual story that you tell, the setting you describe and the events and characters involved. Those have always been my favourite poems of yours, the ones that tell some kind of deep and interesting story. The going-down-a-road thing is a tad cliche but I think it was still pretty appropriate, I had a neat image in my head of two tired, weary souls treading on despite their cuts and wounds, not sure of what lies ahead... Well, Erica, you're an intelligent girl... you may not know what lies ahead, but you know what lies beyond, right? Brian Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world. |

I know this is a long time coming, sorry! :P Sudhir- I'm honored to get such a compliment from a wonderful poet JM- Thank you for your comments.. you're right, I did have a lot of passion and hope when that was written ESP- Thanks for the reply! I hope you're having fun in France Carly- I'm glad if it helped you out, it didn't have the desired effect for me, but thanks for the reply Rhonda- Thank you for the comments and also for the email.. I'm STILL waiting for that reply Tima- Thank you for letting me know that my writing helped you out Brian- Well, who else would that message be for? :P I'm glad that you enjoyed the story and the imagery.. it didn't end the way I would have liked, but I guess thats all part of the journey. Yeah, I know what's beyond this mortal coil.. thats about all I know though! I guess thats enough. Thanks everyone Oh, make me Thine forever |
