still, I am not as I should be

the rain and the gray of this day
are still lodged in the center of me
hampering my breath
                         and rasping my voice
not to mention the chill of this day, once warm
that wraps around my bones like a
                     threadbare blanket
bringing no warmth to my heart

as always,
             my mind retreats inward
the only place left that is truly my own
inward, to the temple of my thought
        where my healing waits

then, I shall be as I am

sounds like last week's weather to me, and except for today and tomorrow...we will be in the damp gray again.

I love to read you no matter where you post, Sven.

Love the opening of this one Sven... captures well how some days affect us and how our own inner hurts make us see the world and the day differently..

I feel you Sven, been there myself many times this past year. Most all your poems are noteworthy but this one really speaks to me. Thanks.

Be as you are, not as you should be... I happen to like who you are.

It's nice to retreat inward like this when the weather goes sour, isn't it... but remember, once you're there, you should be able to peek back out and watch the weather.  You can learn a lot from a cold day if you're willing to pay attention.

Lovely poetry from a powerful soul... well done.
