Here trembles No reason stated But it was touch Ignited I am too old Too wise too worn for this I have seen the dance floor Covered in strawberry sawdust And ground the grit Between teeth clinched For one more day Just any simple way To make it through I have bet my hand On red Queen’s paired Seen the drag of win The shove of loss Only to be dealt Jokers and a Jack Against kings showing I am too tired Too leery of this Much too cold Here trembles… Still are Felt |
