I want a sanctuary
a place from far off thunder;
may perseverance tarry,
revealing childlike wonder.

And solace in my mind, revealing
promises once made.
Oh, give me now, the signs of healing
from the prayers I’ve prayed.

Please, ray of heaven touch me!
let evening mist descend.
Rain warming beads of certainty
as love and hope transcend.

Shine luminescent vision-
a chance, another start.
I struggle with submission.
I know this in my heart.

I’m simply going home again;
to find myself at last.
From decades holding silent strain
of burdens, never cast.

My sanctuary, I believe
is threefold-gentle wind.
My body, mind and spirit grieve,
to peace, I will ascend.

"I walked beside the evening sea and dreamed a dream that could not be." George William Curtis

Oh my, Kathleen...this poem really moved me...

I’m simply going home again;
to find myself at last.
From decades holding silent strain
of burdens, never cast.

My sanctuary, I believe
is threefold-gentle wind.
My body, mind and spirit grieve,
to peace, I will ascend.

Wonderfully done!

nicely done!

LOL@Sunshine.

Yes, indeed this is an awesome poem.  I really enjoyed it immensely.
Namely the last stanza.
