I have No memories of last Thansgiving Day, Not one. It was the first you know, Without my son. And yet, My daughters tell me That I served the meal By my own hand. As delicious, they say, as always And just as grand. It was just five years ago, Another Thanksgiving day, We got the call that told us Their Granddad had passed away. I had put the turkey in And gone to bring him home For just the day. He was too weak to come, but told me To greet them all. I was making the gravy When I got the call. Every child and grandchild Spent the day with me, Though I offered to spare them This sad memory. The youngest grandchild Three months old. The rest will all remember, and The story oft retold, How Grandpa in his own flamboyant way, Went to his new heavenly home On that Thanksgiving Day. My son was there with his strong arms To help me all the way. The others too, so loving and so dear. I remember well That day; How they did all the work And made me rest. But last Thanksgiving Day, My son no longer there. The others thought perhaps, I'd had time to repair. Nine months to find my way. I can't remember anything at all Of last Thanksgiving Day. Oh this is so very touching and sad. Every line was heart wrenching. It's great that you have the ability to do this to a reader but the topic choice was indeed quite moving. Thank you so much for the read. I enjoyed it. ~AF~ "Kelly's my Hero!" "No, Kelly's your heroine." "Kelly has heroin??" "What?" |

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments. I didn't know whether I could share this or not, but I thought this corner would be the right place. Love to all of you. Joyce |

Very nicely written here. I enjoyed it fully, sad, but nonetheless nice. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |
