Ruined by Committee By Larry Chadwick How many people does it take, Of which you could a committee make? Does it take two or more? Or is it closer to twenty-four? Perhaps the number doesn’t matter at all, Once two or more have answered the call. Stop and think about what it takes, For people to make formal mistakes. Setting the size of the committee aside, It’s a way to sacrifice your pride. If you want to be made to look like a fool, Find a way to be nominated to a committee pool. And if you want to murder a concept, Create a committee to study the precept. The bonus is the sacrifice of your reputation, By a very studied computation. January 13, 2002 |

Larry darling boy oh wow this is truly fabulous, I know you are a master of your art but this is outstandingly good. Normally your writing is wonderful this is even better than normal. Don't get me started on committees darling boy you'll be here all night. To get a consensus is hard enough, as for a total agreememnt do me a favour. It's all a matter of trade offs and so on.......... as I said do not get me started. (you can tell I'm not keen on committees can't you Yes I thought at the outset you were a man blessed with a great degree of perspicaiousness. Shhhhh Larry just watch them all looking for their dictionaries. (Yes exactly that is what it means) Wonderful writing as always and I know this hasn't fallen far but if it does I'll be back to hoist it again   Love and warm stuff As always Mushy  To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace St John ch2 v1 |

I truly liked your poem, having sat on a few committees myelf in a vain attempt to change the world. I think your poem has got more of a chance in doing that! |

Larry, Did I ever tell you about the time I was nominated to a committee, their task...to choose a committee to do a review. How's that for circular beauracracy.  Yep yep yep, I too think committees are for the birds, I'm just happy being a part of this committee of friends and words, and negotiating bondages with you and all the wonderful friends here who write words so well and make a confluence with beauty and wisdom! Boy does this resonate with me! I am an administrator for a Church. Committees are my life! For years I've told people to look up the definition of a camel! It is a horse put together by a committee. You nailed this one! never try to teach a pig to sing |
