Taking on a challenge
Writing about myself
This is a good way
To get to know me

I am friendly
Keeping my smile
Ready with a joke
To brighten your day

If you are a new friend
I react differently
For quiet I will be
Shying away

I have my qualities
Being loyal and friendly
But I can be bad
Breaking my promise

I like to think I've matured
Improved in character
Yet truth be told
I think I've become worse

Changes have taken place
I am real practical now
Less generous and helpful
Or committed to family and friends

Maybe that's over-critical
Or I am not that bad
I am still searching
For who I really am

Am I who I am
Because of my qualities
Or do my qualities develop
Because of who I am?

(sigh) Soooooooo beautifully said, sweet friend, I believe we are all searching for the better part of ourselves, but you such a loving person and angel to us all, and we all love you so much! We spend our whole life looking for who we are ......just read your poetry and you will see the vision of you we see...heartfelt writing reveals who we are deep inside. Wonderful poem for a great challenge. **big hugs**
