A lady friend came to me a few years ago and told me about her son's involvement in heavy drugs. I felt sorry for her and tried to help but in the end I could do nothing and the young lad is in prison today. As a result I wrote this heavy rock song about cocaine???? Behind bold fares merchants bear their trade to pigeon beaks. The sumggled secrets hidden there bring sugar souls false peace. Clouds of dark that cloak the heart and shadow sweet dreams forlorn turn to cotton candy art when Captain Snow sails the horn. Chorus: Under the sky's wide oceans When the hollow morning comes There's no future but devotion to the Devil's requiem In the daylight's growing hype center stage awaits it's late the curtain drawn, the warning lights the workday crutch in place. Flush cheeks and answered color stepping out among the crowd a hidden genius hovers in a spell of borrowed proud. Rep. Chorus The magic conversation the climb up vision stairways. A poet's sphere self serving here while the journey back awaits. Back where the mood dispenses the soul returns to hide and in the gloom defenseless small voices cry for lines..... Chorus: Under the sky's wide oceans When the hollow morning comes there's no future but devotion to the Devil's requiem Small voices cry for lines small voices cry for lines.......fade The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up |

All I can say about this song/poetry, is that it evoked memories in me that both saddened and then gladdened my heart... My daughter had a problem with addiction, both drugs and alcohol.. but our lives have been blessed because through guidance, she's now been sober for almost eight months. And everything is different and we all feel the change... This is spot on... I hope others will read it or hear it and somehow it will work its magic in their hearts. Thank you so much for sharing this piece. Pepper |

Peppermint You don't know how happy it makes me feel that your daughter was able to overcome such a deadly problem. Everyday will be a new and rewarding experience for her as she continues on in the wonderful world of reality. The escape through drugs never ever ends up being a real escape but almost always a ticket to a prison either within oneself or the real one! Have a nice day! Eric |

It is those gifts of art that sometimes make the turn around easier to take...you are the artist...continue to wend the brush of pen... |

(tears fall down my cheeks) This is sooooooo heartbreaking, sweet friend, it breaks my heart to see so much of today's youth victimized by peer pressure and how they trick themselves into destroying their bodies with drugs. (sad sigh) Oh Eric, my heart cries out to your son and I pray with all my heart he can recuperate and heal himself from this pain and rise and become a survivor. I pray with all my heart for him. (big hugggssssssss) I have no more to say! God Bless You, dearest friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Eric, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Great title for this...I once tried to explain the allure of cocaine to my father (he and I could discuss ANYTHING) and I then called it Satan's bait--because it is so insidious--it begins by making you feel like your having one of those great days, all energized and mentally "on"--then one day you look in the mirror and see but a nervous, neurotic ghost of yourself. Great job with this, mon amis! (good to see you here, too!) |

Dear Eric...your words carry not only truth but healing in them as well for anyone who has suffered from damaging addictions. I am so very glad you posted this poem and I will be sharing it with some friends of mine who have need of words that sing to the soul like these ones do. Thank you, so very much, dear man. **big hugs** Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams. |

Cocaine and alcohol addiction is devastating to the psyche as well as the physical body. Addictions to drugs and alcohol are so difficult to break, and so often those who succeed in breaking the bonds are lured back into addictions from an inability to handle the stresses of daily life. I've buried more than one friend who could not break free. Hope your friend's son has strength, and is surrounded by enough love and compassion to eventually break free of this awful curse. |
