At home in the air
you nest in the trees
ever gently, you drift
over hills, fields and seas

riding the wind
soaring on high
your proud regal plumage
gracing our skies

you glide through the clouds
and drink of the rain
feathered beauty of nature
you drink of her grain

with wings outstretched
your song filled with glee
the wind at your back
you're flying free

I wonder what we humans would be like if we were able
to just "take off" without a ticket I mean.  This is such a nice poem.

Kay and Marsha, thanks so much for your warm replies....
and yes, it would be wonderful to be able to take off and go anywhere we want without a ticket....but I wonder if we would get hijacked......perish the thought.

I write about the freedom of flight in a lot of poems. It is a style of poetry I try to create. It is where the flight within us will lead us. It is in the beauty that the wings of flight fly over us with. Nice job.
