T’was a time of half light,
The grayness of twilight
When I noticed the condition of the room,
Coated with a slight dust
With a hint of sweet musk,
I then decided it needed a vacuum.

The whining motor did blare
I started at the base of the stair,
The work taking my thoughts and attention,
Although a regular need
A mindless routine deed,
But unknown to me had a strange attraction.

In a gray and white blur
Came the playful fur,
Intent on his sneak attack on the sound
I couldn’t have heard
So I did not swerve
Till after the attacker did bound.

So quickly he did hop
I just couldn’t stop
And I heard his paining wail
Quick was the attack,
Slow did I react
And I vacuumed up his tail.

Slightly bloodied the tip
So I went out on a trip,
Taking the attacker to the vet,
Although quite pained
It was only a sprain,
I was told I have a very strange pet.

So after money was spent
I have a cat tail that’s limp,
On an animal with too much daring,
So during the night
I sat down to write a Tale for sharing.

Gloom

This is just delightful!
You've penned a cute chuckle here, Sir Gloom.
Its nice to see this from you.

For all who watch.Dare you say hello? Come in and ask the questions that are on your mind, but spare me your judgement until you truly sipped of me.

This is funny, yet sad - poor cat. I hope it doesn't attack the vacuum anymore. Your poem was a clever way to explain the vacuum incident. Thanks for sharing.

Gloom. You have never written a poem I enjoyed more than this one. A very painful, though wonderful lesson for kitty. Boo Hoo. Guess we all should know what we're doing when we attack something or someone. LOL...
