Chop Chop My name is Chop Chop I'm an owl; I hoot for guests who visit fowl At Lost River Trading Post, Silver Springs with other birds of prey And help teach people about birds when they visit every day I live with injured friends and naturalists, but I'm not free My friend Linda and others take good care of me But I'm captured now; will never be free. I cannot fly, just have one wing, let me tell you why Was swooping in from on high to fetch a bite just right for lunch Got mired in some barbed wire, felt my whole body crunch! Felt pain, right wing mangled, like fire, couldn't free the tangle A passer by found me strangled in it, got me loose in just a minute Took me to the vet who saved me; cut off my right wing and gave me Life, he was surprised I was not dead, we both knew I'd never fly. So please remember animal friends and what they do for you. Catch your mice, bugs, spiders too; God put us here to live with you Help us sound the loud alarm, take care to leave us no great harm. Yes, Nancy, I know how you love nature. And Silver Springs, where I write much of my poetry is a well spring of nature. The Silver Springs park, famous for glass bottom boats and movie making, such as sea hunt and tarzan is on the edge of the Ocala National forest.  (smiles) Awwwwwww, I love this, sweet friend, I love nature so so much too, I always love to go to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado just to bird-watch and find lynxs and ferrots!
