The Curse Of Eros

I rebuke thee...as I cry to drown in sigh
through the dusk of dark teasing idly by,
so shall I curse thy name ev'ry nightfall
for refusing to deliver love when I call
~
Heart strings cut, tiresome dance doth end,
a fool, 'twas I, to have been your friend,
you anchored my ship and delayed my desire,
you threw my all into fury's fire.
I die a thousand deaths from arrow's sting
never to wear eternal gold ring...
devoid of affection, humbled by rejection
unable to heal this lonely infection
~
I damn you Cupid, god of love
and beshrew the smug light above,
you pranced and laughed on wing while I wept
for contract, broken and vows unkept
~
Hide now from skin, forlorn
leave me to wallow in Venus scorn,
make deaf your ears, benevolent moon
dare not pity this moanful tune,
reveal not this spirit, cloaked in pain
as I swallow the blood of heart, now slain
~
I condemn you Eros, king of sly
I paint the stars grim, throw curse to the sky,
I'm weary of waiting for the train of destiny
to lay 'pon the tracks, chained by decree
~
Set my soul aflame to burn this passion dead
to saturate in truth - fate's misfit, unwed,
valentine wishes fade to nevermore,
dreams, they scream on bedroom floor
as winter howl blackens dawn to decay
aspirations rupture in cold disarray
~
Alas, I renounce this shell of distress
as yearn for "the one", numbs to nothingness
in envy's suffocation to stain with tears of jade,
bitterness of breath, ungranted prayers hath made

Melissa, you are one amazing poet. This is an incredible piece of writing, and I just love the style you write in.

and I've often thought the little beastie, has been shooting crocket arrows and needs his bow crunched at times...

mind if I plagerize your style... lol.

Well what can I say to this...
Classic Melissa purging here...
I went and found the first one in 12 to compare and I really like the changes...
youve tightened it up and added to its impact of ripping emote...
I especially like the vocab and language,
and the imagery is done to stark bleeding perection.
Like a Valentine from hell
No one does it like you can girlie...this is black lace and daggers for sure...
A Poe style Valentines me thinks
very well done Melissa ...Im not too fond of the day myself..but I'd always hope we can write  a "happy ever after".

You speak to me in riddles and you speak to me in rhymes.
My body aches to breathe your breath ... your words keep me alive.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Melissa, I can feel your heart breaking in these words, my heart goes out to you; sometimes cupids make mistakes but he will make it up to you soon when you are showered with cupids arrows and you find your on etrue love who will make you happy forever! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend this is so sad but gorgeous! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Melissa, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Awesome! But how can you destroy an illusion?
Illusions always lie. Try the real thing.

Melissa,
Wonderful, as always... Cupid can be a cruel little cherub, can't he?  Happy Valentine's Day....
