     old boards
     on the pier at Ventura,
     stacked to make
     a rich man shack.

     dead fish Fridays,
     best in town,
     beer has ice
     in the neck.

     sea gulls recommend
     the dumpster out back,
     nothing ever more
     than a day old.

     hostess lady there,
     hot legged woman,
     plays soccer
     on weekends,

     with her self
     some times
     after work,
     best lover,

     she ever had
     was a woman,
     even if she never
     had a woman.

     she loves the sound
     of eyes applauding
     when she climbs stares,
and when she stands just right

     you can see
     the smooth of her lips,
     against the sunset
     as she smiles.

Had this not been at Ventura [with which I am familiar], then it would have had to have been placed on another waterfront, for the images would have taken one there...

enjoyed!

OWG,
Suddenly I have a desire for fish...Wonder why that is?
Well done

This is so enjoyable to the senses. I imagine the pier, the woman, and the applauders. A lot of smooth energy indeed.

Sincerely,
Regina

I loved this part, especially the play with the word "stares".  The entire piece really drew me in where she was (is?).  *smiles*

I think I've been there...I really miss the oceans of Southern California and the beach cities and people that go with them.  I'm glad this came back so I could read it.
