agua caliente woman of iron with rock feet and stone children you dance statues on mojave earth the sun knows your skin and fears your cold eyes you carry dry water in your earthen bowl the wind comes to drink you laugh cactus on glass long knives bring gold to your temple you feed them famine cakes they chew with empty teeth the navaho make tattoos on your belly lands with rail track lines you burn their feet bottoms when they tiptoe to marry your daughters... ©OWG 2002 (tribal stuff palm springs...vibes from the raven voices) |
