I couldn't choose the cardinal point That would grant the wisest choice. North or south, east or west, Each called with its own voice. And so my heart lied in between Where the ordinals meet as one Equidistant from love and loss From what is and won't become. In the nadir of these times I felt thrust into the breach The compass called but I held back From the dreams within my reach. Time moved on, the world turned, Magnetic North shifted off the pole. My compass turned in response to these And thereby pinned my wondering soul. For the nexus of the cardinal points Is the only place that remains the same. Where changes in time and destiny Are not affected by love and pain. It's there I chose to stay in place Thereby losing what I could have won. No pain, no loss, no love, nor joy, No chance to change what I'd become. The directions are there, free for choice, The axis isn't the place to remain. Not choosing to move is choosing to lose, Everything you stand to gain. [This message has been edited by LngJhnAg (02-02-2002 11:51 PM).] |

Excellent advise! This unfortunately is what separates the thinkers from the doers I loved this one. ~* Carpe' Diem *~ |

"Time moved on, the world turned, Magnetic North shifted off the pole. My compass turned in response to these And thereby pinned my wondering soul." Wow, what a great poem. I love the way you encompassed love and loss. And the ending is perfect. "Not choosing to move is choosing to lose, Everything you stand to gain" (And not a single kitty was injured in the making of this poem!) |

Bravo! This is great! As Midnitesun commented, not an injured kitty in the crowd over the making of this Keeper... |

LJA, I could say you are a man without direction but that would change the point of the poem. Well done sir. Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

You know, I take these as very wise words. Must dwell upon them a bit. Sandra |

Loved this! Kathleen--(Kay) "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey." Laurie Lee [This message has been edited by Irish Rose (02-04-2002 09:16 AM).] |

This is excellent, sailor... you've written well of one whose indecision makes the decision for him... he stands immobile looking at all the paths he could have chosen. But yanno??? Sometimes thinking of what might have been is better than remembering what was... he missed the heights but also missed the depths of despair... for making a choice doesn't guarantee making the right one. *S* Now yassee what you've done??? You've gone and made me think... and you KNOW how tough that is for a blonde! LOL Great work, sailor... I enjoyed it much! |
