Drowned Sorrow looking into the surf as it crashes on the ragged shore I smell the salty mist as it surrounds my pensive form scalding the sensitive tissue of my sinuses and eyes lending double cause to tears that from my sorrow pour like oval crystals down my cheek to fall on granite stone rock, as hard and heavy and cold as my heart, forged in the fires of love’s molten core then spat of to chill and harden, rejected, no longer needed, dying alone pounded by the ocean’s storm-raged waves of grief drowned in self-pity buried in the silt of deceit. the gull’s laughter, directed at my misery, mocking my pain making jest of the love I gained but only tasted brief laugh you dismal fowl while you may I will not suffer this long you may soar on the waves of rage’s heat lifting from this torn soul but soon these hot currents will chill and pull you down to hell where my soul of blackest despair and yours of mocking belong enough of this banter, I’ll not give satisfaction to your gloat come with me as I cut the air and descend in flight equal to yours in grace and mockery to terminate in saline blanket, engulfed in its energy breathing it into my throat and lungs, drowning the fire of anguish inflicted me by her shallow unfaithful heart. free of this burden, never to be burned again by love’s heartless flame nor ridiculed for loving too much life ebbs slowly as vision blurs Brian Beaudry [This message has been edited by brianbeaudry (02-02-2002 02:09 PM).] |
