The Power Of a Poets Pen

I once thought that I had seen,
Until I felt your portrait
Tattooed across my soul,
Painted with a poets pen

I once thought that I had lost,
Until the day you found me
On a page of passion blue,
Crafted from a poets pen

I once thought that I had laughed,
Until my world trembled through
Spinning wildly round ‘n’ round,
Resting on a poets pen

I once thought that I had feared,
Until I felt the sting
Of that cold hearted venom,
In the stab of a poets pen

I once thought that I had loved,
Until I heard you sing
That melodic angels' song,
Resonating through a poets pen

I once thought that I had cried,
Until the day I felt you sigh
From the depths of life’s despair,
Echoed from a poets pen

I once thought that I had lived,
Until I felt you breathe
Murmurs carried on the wind,
Trailing from a poets pen

It's okay to shoot the moon ~ John Sebastian

This is perhaps the most beautiful and deeply truthful poem regarding the power of a poet's words that I have ever had the pleasure of reading.  Not only am I printing this out, It's going into my library as well   Bravo!~

Take care,
Melissa~

Ooh Eddie! such  delight in your write.

I have a stupid question about your profile quote...What did the moon ever do to you that you want to shoot it hey?

If you keep writing poetry like this I will forgive you anything even shooting the moon, and the dark and your poetry beside me is looking mighty attractive.

Wow, that is fantastic. Your poem really tells it like it is. Words can have much power, bending and swaying our emotions from highs to lows, and everything in between. Another keeper in my Eagle files.

Bravo! This is so great! I especially love the repetition of "in a poets pen" in each stanza, it made it even more powerful
