*Inspired*

Oh dance! Madame Butterfly dance
behind Shoji screens of romance
sway gracefully, in silk kimono winds
bathe within a sandalwood breeze
flutter exotic fans of sadness
upon creamy sweet lotus petals
silhouettes kiss rice lanterns of night
disgraced, dancing a solo flight
flutter shattered fans of despair
a finale in soft koto air
love will not embrace your heart again
beneath a lantern of an origami moon
dragons breathe fire of moonlight
upon a page of geisha teardrops in night

You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.

*sigh* when one dances alone behind a screen I guess love cannot reach out to embrace them...This poem really touched me deeply...very deeply...your vision is so true and painted with such perfection. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Victoria, you create some of the most enchanting imagery! I love the way this is all tied together, a heart wrapped up kimono tight underneath a sad lantern light.
"flutter exotic fans of sadness
upon creamy petals of a sweet lotus
silhouettes kiss rice lanterns of night"
I remember seeing Madame Butterfly when I was 12 years old. It still has an enormous impact on me.

Beautiful as usual Victoria,
I have a question though. Why do you start each piece of work with a question mark?
Just wondering

If I didn't know better...I would think that
you have been to Japan...I spent three years
there...and enjoyed every minute...was
pleasurable...and so is this poem...

I adore this! And you know that I'm lovin' the butterfly theme intermingled with the love (though the ending is sad).  You use some creative and perfect phrasing in this...

Excellent writting...

Take care,
