My enemy stands before me looking in
the person within that doesn’t always win.
His fears unfounded do sometimes make
this heart confounded, a soul to shake.

I wrestle with him, the fight is ever long
I tussle within him,he stays so strong.
I sometimes defeat his thoughts that dwell
I sometimes retreat, from his living hell.

For fear is my enemy, resting in my chest.
That inner self in me, not letting me rest.
I shall not allow, this foe the winner’s cup.
I shall not bow, at my table he’ll not sup.

I win more now, each day of my old life
I can now say, I am the cause of my strife.
For fear is only in my mind and not real
and with this...this man can feel and deal.

You've captured this beautifully Magnus. Indeed, if we face our fears head on ... we can overcome. A very inspirational read .. thank you for this.

Best wishes,
/Kit

**big hugs** I think this man needs a hug. My heart hurt to read of your enemy but know this...I also have faith that you will not let him win...for are you not the Dragon Slayer of Passions...are you not the King of Romance who has all the ladies swooning at his feet? You are strong and will defeat your enemy that we may continue to be blessed by the romantic dreams that pour from your heart and pen. **big hugs** **extra big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Kit...thank you...I know that there are many
others who have felt this feeling...have
sometimes shrunk from what could otherwise
be a task that would be won...

I lived with Fear..I still do...but now...I
can see the light at my tunnel of fears...
they don't win as often as they once did..

And I am glad...

This is so meaningful to me right now, fear is one reason I'm trying
so hard to make through to spring, and I will, I know that but fear
to me, is very real.  A friend told me in tears that you have to make
fear work for you.  Well, I don't know about that. My husband told me
once that I have let fear control me.  That's probably true.  Many people
have expressed to me what they feel "fear" is.  For me, it is losing myself,
which is why I believe for whatever reason, that by spring I will once again be
able to put into my poetry some kind of a completion if there is to be one,
instead of burdening everyone with what I'm going through although truthfully,
I feel the people here are so great, they don't look at it as a burden, but I
think I am sometimes.  Don't know.
Yes, I sense a struggle going on in these words.  Guess a trite statement
rings true here..."the pen is mightier than the sword...."

Kay...dear lady..wonderful friend....
we all have our share of fear...Yes..it tries
hard to control...and all we can do is
let ourselves understand that we make them,
we let them in and if we just simply understand....

that we are OK...that they can be overcome..

Then...we do quite simply....Win!!!!

I am with you, ever beside you as a friend..
I..and all the others will help battle the
foe...for the foe is within us all...All
of us...

I understand your feelings better than you
may ever realize..and you are just as
wonderful a person as you are...as you will
ever be..

I judge not any one person who has the
courage to say they are afraid, that they
have fears...that they want to win...I
admire them greatly...

As I do you..

Karen...

If I said your warmth touched me greatly..
I would quite easily be making a statement
that is only a tip of the thoughts that
you make me feel and think from your words..

I would accept those hugs...I have...from
your words...And I shall stand at the gate
of hell...ever battling the foe for us all.

Magnus, this was so powerful. I love these lines."I shall not allow, this foe the winner’s cup.
I shall not bow, at my table he’ll not sup'
We do create our own fears don't we. And realizing that you do, means you win the battle. Great poem. very powerful. floria

Interesting write, as from your previous writings, I would never have judged that you would pen one concerning "fear"...

well done, Magnus...

I think we all wrestle with our deamons,
but as long as we keep fighting the good fight,
we'll always win...it's not much fun to lose
the battle of our own will.

Nicely done Magnus~

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Barry, this is so so sad, my heart goes out to you, for never let the fear and pain defeat you, for you are a very loving man with a big heart and a true person of chivalry and love and a wonderful romantic that always touches all our hearts! (sad sigh) We all love you so much, sweet friend, so never let your enemy win, strike back and let love find a way always! (BIG HUGGGSSSSS) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

fair knight, rise up to slay the dragon of fear lest thy questing heart be taken in sorrow.

Sorry too much imagery in your poem

I know exactly what your talking about here. I get better as I get older, but fear is an insidious thing. Good poem.
