Listening to every heart

Naught Presumed

comfort can disappear
rapidly
~ or over time ~
as dependability
in the moment
is vanquished to a
gray existence
which comes so very slowly

akin to
macular degeneration
of the soul

she wonders what kind of
surgical procedure
would bring back the
zeal and zest
that which was once
thought as best

or was it
only what their
minds made of it

oh to get back
the simplest of pleasures
when touch
was treasured
when comfort was
found in the smile
when a day
could pass in light

when nothing
was taken
for granted

but the electric is gone
words are sodden
~ regret most plentiful ~
'tho smiles are given
publicly in light
just not during night
when it would
be best

how did this
come to
pass?

he said thoughts
aloud
she kept thoughts
quietly proud
and kept his
words before her
and noted
shorter apologies
but longer analogies
of all things
gone wrong

wondering when
naught became
presumed

[Inspired by the movie CastAway...which led to these thoughts....]

Karilea--You have seen into a relationship's fail with stunning precision...sometimes a shipwreck is what is needed to see the light.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Karilea, this is sooooo sad, I too saw the movie Castaway and it is soooo heartbreaking to see Tom Hanks character lose his wife after that plane crash and abandoning everything he was behind, like so many other relationships do! (sad sigh) My heart cries out to all broken-hearted lovers and I pray that the simple pleasures can aagin come and greet them welcomingly with loves promise! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is wonderfully written! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

that in this poem...Kari,  this is a very

Sunshine, this was straight from the heart. The only way to keep love alive, is to love with the heart unconditionally, as God loves us. Like with my family, They can do no wrong in my eyes. This was a wonderful poem. floria

Kari darling sister of my soul Oh my goodness do I know the darkness of the soul this lies in. Castaway indeed and what a long time he was away too No wonder his soul got dark.

You have no idea how close these words were to my heart at one time. Thankfully I’m not in the dark anymore.

You know this is utterly utterly first class writing darling girl truly this deserves a standing ovation

*sigh* all that the heart can do is weep for what once was filled with life but now is turning to dust...My heart goes out to anyone experiencing the end of a once loving relationship. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Gotta say that I sure like the Sunshine  best. Although I know that everyone has storms, but can we not fly over them? And if two souls drift apart, we can either dwell on the sadness, or we can go where the sunshine is. What good is sadness chasing sadness? And is there any age to a spirit? Only our physical body ages and if we let our spirit chase our body, we are ordering sadness, are we not? Give me Sunshine or give me death! For Sunshine IS Liberty

Most interesting comments, and thank you for the chuckles from some of you.  I find it interesting that my mind is always so full of "stuff" that when I read my own work from a year or so back, I can hardly relate...but am so glad that YOU can.

Thank you all for reading!

I could swear this could be about a fading marriage..but..maybe my heart is making things appear that aren't? *sigh*

Still sad, Sunshine!
