Knight

Each mighty blow he lands
Retreats his enemy’s stance
Truth’s light directs his hand
To beat back his foe’s lance
Another strike does resound
The battle’s now been won
His adversary hits the ground
Believing his life is done
The knight strips him of arm
Then offers him his hand
Promising of no further harm
While helping him to stand
On bent knee he offers praise
To God’s strengthening Light
Battles won are but first phase
Of being the victor of this fight
The second part is setting free
His adversary's beaten soul
In forgiving heart let him see
That strength can mean console
The true victor of any fight
Is one that heeds heart's call
What turns a victor into a Knight
Is compassion after the fall
