Some pungent from wear
some new, some threadbare
I sort them by color, the lights and the darks
on their nametags, I always read their remarks

some of them tell me they like to be cool
to get in hot water, they would be a fool
others like soaking in tropical heat
it makes their bathing experience sweet

inside a machine with some bubbles, they go
dancing and swirling to sweet water flow
taking some time for a relaxing soak
to prepare for the stress, agitation provokes

next, spinning around like a wheel of roulette
a motor driven pirouhette
soon they're again nice and clean, smelling sweet
but shivering cold and in need of some heat

to ease their chills, the next step comes
blasts of hot air in a tumbling drum
at last, an end to their bathing ordeal
they emerge warm and dry from that hot ferris wheel

before they go home, I fold them with care
in their own little drawer, now ready to wear
as I happily bid my clean friends goodbye
til next time I need them, they know I'll stop by

I love when someone does this type of a write. Gives you a different perspective of a common chore. Maybe I think it is neat because I have the same type of thought process...lol...thanks for sharing...Rod

Lyra...I am getting dizzy from spinning around....

Would you please fold me and put me away...

And I hate harsh detergents...so go easy
on it...

This is cute...loved it...

Rodney...Thanks for your reply...I think laundry can actually be a very poetic experience.

Noah...Thanks, but I don't go to the laundromat...I am lucky enough to have my own washer and dryer at home.  If I didn't, my laundry would probably never get done.

Michael...I'm not airing my dirty laundry...by the time you get to see it, its all clean already.

Karen...thanks for replying...and I am so happy that I was able to make you giggle.

Victoria...thanks for your reply...and you are welcome here anytime, to help me with my housework.  We will make it a housework party and then write a poem about it which we will post here.

Thanks Barry...I hope I didn't shrink you too much!

Cheryl, Nancy and Martie...You ladies are all invited to the laundry party too!
We'll have a wonderful time drinking champagne and eating fine cheese with crackers and we'll all break our diets.

Lyra - I remember this fun laundry write.  It almost convinced me that doing the laundry can be fun, and then I regained my sanity.   Nice writing.

Madame C,
LOL You can air your laundry here anytime! Fun write on a dull topic.

My wife she likes to watch,
So her laundry she won't botch.
Until the water reaches the top,
She'll stand and watch 'til it stops.

Lyra,

I'll never look at washing clothes the same way again.  I love the way you personified the laundry - I swear that I almost heard giggling coming from my dryer a minute ago.  Those darn socks are having way too much fun spinning 'round and 'round .
