(In the many salutes to the states that represent our nation, I now give you my patriotic tribute to the state I live in and love!!!

Colorado
By: Noah Eaton
1/18/02

Come to me where the purple mountain majesties sway
Where the Rocky Mountains meet their pinnacle
Where the song of O’ America was made
A state of natural beauty and miracles

We’ll start out west, where the dinosaurs once roamed
In dry lands of ancient soils and fossils and functions
Where the black canyons rise high over the plateau
Way down south from Grand Junction

Join me on the Silver Railroad
We’ll see where the Anasazi lived in Mesa Verde
We’ll live up on some old cowboy tales in Durango
And stare out into the distance till the end of the day

Now we’ll embrace the mountains that blanket our state
Where the peregrine falcons fly
Where the rivers dance flamenco and the crystal lakes hang
Where our sweet little lynx friend is shy

Where Buffalo Bill made route in his Pony Express
Where the Mother Cabrini Shrine stands tall
Where our wonderful bald eagle nests
Where the valleys are braided with rainbow waterfalls

Dare to race me down the alpine slide?
How about we spend a nice night in a cabin in Breckenridge?
Would you like to ski with me down the mountainside?
How about a walk across the Royal Gorge Bridge?

On to Denver now, where the Avalanche have the Stanley cup
Where ice cream sodas were first made
National Western Stock Shows are on and up
Here between the majestic mountains and the golden plains

Finally, come lie with me in these eastern plains
Where it’s quiet and peaceful
Where we get some nice comfortable rains
Under bright morning skies of hazel

Come join me in the state I live and love so true
Our colorful Colorado, our Centennial State
Where the Indian paintbrushes, columbines, and wild roses bloom
Where the essence of nature comes out to play

"All my bags are packed
I'm ready to go..."
Leaving on a jet plane. It's an old tune, but one I can still sing. What a great travel trip through Colorado!
See you soon. Thanks, Noah.

Noah,

I don't get much of a chance to travel, so I have to thank you for this beautifully written poem. Through your words, I feel as if I was touring through Colorado right beside you. Thanks for the tour, my friend.

Yes Noah! Our state sure is special in many ways.  This reminded me of what a great state Colorado really is.  Great poem Noah, I really liked this one.

Dear Noah,
We used to go camping in Colorado when I was a kid. I loved it. You've brought it all back to me.
