People cannot possibly understand
nor comprehend where she has been.
Seeing out for herself
living within her means.
In the realms of an uncertain destiny
that is often times mistaken for fate.
Only to be carried away by the winds of change
blown faraway, landing somewhere
outside of no where on an island in the sun.
Taking comfort in her seclusion
where others have made the connection
but never truly see the attraction.
Perceived as a castaway
adrift in a desperate situation
perhaps even destitute, she's heard them say.
But it is she who meets her needs,
knowing what she can live with and without
fending for herself, which is all she's ever known
and all that she is left with.
So like the pain, and those you hate to love.
In time she's learned to ignore them.
Stranded on an island,
where everyday's a holiday.

Wow, this is really good. Sometimes it is best to venture off alone, go on your own,  away from the maddening crowds. Now it's off to the other poem that I missed. Thanks.

I second that Wow.

Her isolation, perhaps even a touch of nonchalance, her appearing not to care what others think. She almost succeeds.

I could be wrong, but that's what I see here. I like poems that stretch the reader's imagination.

Very nice writing.

My island is filled with fantasy. It is where I go to heal. Very well done. I love the whole message in this poem. **hugs**

I apologize for not getting back
here sooner.  I really do appreciate
every one of you taking the time to read what
I wrote.  It brings me a small amount of peace to put my thoughts down, and know that I might be understood.

Many thanks to all of you.
