Darkness reigns Over a once loving man His heart once destined for greatness Now lying in utter ruin Sinking deeper into the abyss Praying silent prayers That this nightmare will end Friends and family Sending their love Trying so desperately To bring this lowly creature home where love and happiness flourish But alas, no victory for love The gaping hole deep in his heart Unable to catch the gifts His soul, torn asunder Cannot house the love and hope His loved ones try to give They now can only watch As the demons pass overhead Circling, like vultures Whispering such dark words Into my mind, sanity crumbling Falling to my knees As these dark creatures Draw back for the final blow I look to loved ones And whisper, "it is better this way" Then, I close my eyes as tears roll down my cheek The dark demons reach in Plunging my heart into the depths of hell Screaming in pain and sorrow I suffer this endless torment Without warning, I fall Darkness washing over me Becoming one with nothingness The shadow is dead It is better this way Fear destroys the mind, depression destroys the soul... only love and compassion may save you from death. |

This is dark indeed. Written from the depths of pain and despair. When I’ve felt this way, I try to remind myself that tomorrow is another day, another chance to change the landscape, find happiness again. If this is written from your heart, I hope you will find a brighter tomorrow. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Oh, such a sad one. I have a magic flashlight, that helps me shine my way out of darkness. Would you like to borrow it for a while? For every moment of darkness, there can be a moment of light. So keep your eyes open, for that light is about ready to start shining your way again. And in your darkest nights, when there is no light you can see, turn on that magic flashlight, and think of me. I'll be that northern light shining in sky, waving hello. |

only for now. . . well done, there's a powerful sadness here, one that seems to be all-encompassing. . . but, as poets, and as people, we learn that the darkness teaches. . . and that we take those lessons back with us into the light. . . excellent. . . -------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Perhaps your eyes are not accustomed to the shadows we cast beside you ... some a little less noticeable, others more so at times, but they are there. To find a spark of light, feel its warmth ... reach for it ... concentrate on that and allow it to grow around you. It will take hold of you ... ... it's better this way. Words well shared, thank you. |
