Ok...this is different...I know that...Just giving it a shot... I saw the birds soaring today and got inspired to write this.. See the birds circling, soaring high Watching the carrion with an eye. Waiting for the prey to become still. Circling, circling, watching until. Until the birds are past the meal the carcass they no longer steal Turkey buzzards circling up high watching with a death given eye. There they are, them and the rest waiting to swallow and digest. Circling, soaring up in the sky a black coal of death for an eye. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust Turkey buzzard about to bust. Picking the bones till all clean dirty feathers with black sheen. Just remember the soaring bird silently flying, circling unheard. Turkey buzzards flying so high... a black coal of death for an eye. |

Magnus, I love the rawness and primitiveness of this poem.... Very beautifully written, but please don't invite me over to your house for turkey buzzard dinner. copyright2001 Lyra Nesius |

I really enjoyed this; I liked how you were able to look past the beauty of flight to the dark side of the hunter beneath. I have often wondered why we think birds in flight are so breathtaking, yet flying insects are loathsome. Aside from size, there is very little difference, and your post reminds me of that. |
