Do NOT Drink and Drive |

I know there are going to be many people who will drink and drive tonight without even giving it a second thought. Maybe after reading my personal true story, some of those people will think twice. I hope so! Happy New Year to all. Do NOT Drink and Drive One evening someone decided to drink and drive If they hadn't my friend Denny would still be alive To my house, he was making his way Until a drunk driver crashed into him on my birthday Patiently I waited for him to arrive Phone call notified me of the accident They told me Denny didn't survive Immediately I felt as if I had been run over I felt it was partly my fault for making him come over Now every year on my birthday I make the same wish I wish that the drunk driver would've called a cab And avoided all of this He got sentenced to only a few years in jail Meanwhile, all I could do was send Denny's parents A sympathy card in the mail If he didn't drink and drive My best friend would be 18 yrs old, still alive I could never forgive this man for what he did His carelessness led him to kill a kid Please use caution if you're going to drink Someone you love can be taken away in a blink Happy New Year to all, have a blast Be smart and safe is all I ask! (tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Joanna, this is so heartbreaking, my heart goes out to you and your friend Denny's family. (wipes tears) I too don't understand why people drink and drive, my heart aches to all these poor victims of these crashes, and I pray that this all can stop. (big hugggssssss) You are a true angel, sweet friend, you are the best friend Denny and his family could ever dream of, God Bless You! (sad sigh) I love you, sweet friend, God Bless You! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet love, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

A very timely message Joanna. This is such a sad story of your friend. If the telling of it will stop just one person from drinking and driving, then you have accomplished something with your poem. I myself, will drive to where I'm going, probably have copious amounts to drink, but I will be calling a cab, and worry about getting my car tomorrow. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

I hope that writing this poem puts away some feelings that you still have for your dearly departed friend. I also hope that many will read this and not make the mistake of picking up their car keys after throwing back a few drinks. Nice poem Rose. Poetry is spiritual ventilation! |

This is such a sad poem, but it sends a powerful message Joanna! Carelessness can not only harm our live but others around us. So, I agree with you Joanna drinking and driving will potentially harm many lives. I hope everyone is safe on this New Years Eve! And think before you drink. From you good friend Randy Meador a life lived unexplored is a life not worth living. |
