Listening to every heart

The Letter of Love

“Happy New Year,
my darling,
may all future days
be cast in light,
may all your dreams
wish you good nights…”

His love letter spoke
of dreams to come,
he wrote to her
of chrysanthemums
that would in her
garden grow…

as would the glow
in her heart…

“Happy New Year,
my darling,”

laid before her eyes,
the sound of his voice
in her ears, reprised,
and she saw there
in recall of blue eyes,
the look of her
in love with wise.

She glanced again
at his strong scrawl,
the message of love
sent across the walls
of timeless pall
to her.

So sure
had he been
his future was bright!
All he could see
was her in
his nights ~

as she recalled
the last time he was near,

“Happy New Year,
my darling,”
his voice resplendent
as he had draped her neck
with a silver pendant…

“Happy New Year,
my love,”
she whispered low
and in soft of candle
light’s glow,
she fingered the
treasure draped on
her neck,
and picked up the article
of the car wreck

“Happy New Year,
my beloved,”
she whispered
through tears ~
“I miss you so,
these many years”

and at the stroke of twelve
she sought
the sound of his voice
that her memory wrought

“Happy New Year,
my darling,
may all future days
be cast in light ~
may all your dreams
wish you good nights…”

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh my gosh, this is so sad but so beautiful, sweet friend, it must feel so painful to lose love and be reminded of the voice through a letter. (sigh) So sad but well-written, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

A tender and poignant message that too often is the painful reality of this season. Well done, Sunshine.

Sunshine - So very sad and so beautifully written.  You almost got a tear out of me, and that isn't easy to do.

Kari darling sister of my soul, this is without doubt one of your utter best. And now you’ve made me cry. What is this a conspiracy? I know your tricks darling girl you think I’ll be less attractive with red rimmed eyes? Hhhmm! Well unlucky darling girl my eyes look like a field of bluebells that have been washed by the summer rain They don’t but I’m surely allowed some poetic licence. Good!

You know that this is utterly wonderful don’t you, the flow and the metre are just perfect

Absolutely Fabulous

A sad and true message of utmost importance, Karilea.....couched beautifully in your poetic embrace.
Happy New Year to you too!

I think we should all stay home tomorrow night and visit with each other at Passions....that will definitely keep us off the dangerous roads.

We now have 3 feet of snow in Michigan!

Ooo!  I didn't even think of this this year.  I will be working in my car right after the ball drops...good reminder and terrific poem.  It's a keeper to repost next year and the year after, etc.

Not fair!  You made me cry!

Not what I was expecting, poignant and beautifully written.  Not everyone can see how precious life is and how quickly it can be taken away.  Wonderful reminder. I especially like the part where she fingers the treasure around her neck as she reads the article.

Have a Happy and Joy Filled New Year.
