I spent some time just thinking-
As I drove through San Antone.
About the days away from home-
And spending them alone.

About the miles I've traveled-
The things that I have seen...
And the fact I'm growing jaded-
And I wonder what it means?

I thought about the younger days,
Bad broncs, and broken bones-
But now it's bags and briefcase-
Laptops and mobile phones.

Five thousand used to be big bucks-
It's ten times that today...
No matter how much you bring in-
You've twice as much to pay.

Sometimes I guess I'm tempted-
To throw it all away...
Trade in what I'm doing,
For a working cowboy's pay.

A hard day's work might kill me now-
But what a way to die...
Unencumbered, Levi's on-
Beneath an open sky.

There's nothing better than doing what you love. Great expression, John!

Money is so full of nothing.  What is important is a life full of something rewarding.  Well written my fine poet.  Roger

Love the freedom and the advertising in this,
Kethry

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
